Jazz in the Community


Projected for 2007
The JAM Jazz in the Community program is formed to bring world class Utah jazz artists out of the concert hall and into the community.

Presenters: 5-10 top musicians from the Salt Lake City Jazz orchestra.
         
How: These musicians will:
1. Compose and arrange jazz charts
2. Create a repertoire for performances consisting of music of jazz giants and Utah composers.
3. Travel to and perform in schools, homes, concert halls, intimate, informal and formal settings.

When: The spring of each year beginning in 2007.
        
Format: • Interactive performances, hands-on demonstrations and discussion.
• Master Classes, showcasing students in performance for the masters, providing professional feedback and critique.
• Clinics, teaching a specific skill.
• Coaching and mentoring, inspiring aspiring young jazz students to participate in JAM and otherwise sponsored All-Star High School Ensembles.
• Open rehearsals, providing audiences with the opportunity to listen and witness the creative process firsthand.
